The Wedding Dress: Part1 {my wedding}

This morning while working through Google Reader I saw a wedding shot by Nikki Meyer Photography. The bride, Nadine had the most gorgeous wedding dress and it got me thinking about my own wedding dress and how I decided on 'the one'. But first, look at Nadine's dress...

This dress is by Cape Town designer Elizabeth Stockenstrom. I Love all the detail and the beading and oh the lace...I'm so in love with lace. I also really like that it has soft sleeves with a rounded bodice. It really is an amazing dress!

When I started collecting inspiration images for my wedding dress, lace was the top requirement.

My first dress shopping experience was at a mainstream Boutique with nothing unique or special. it confirmed 2 things though. 1) a poofy Cinderella dress just made me laugh at the site of myself in it 2) I definitely wanted a wow dress with detail and lace in an off white colour.

My second visit to a boutique was a special occasion. My mom visited for the weekend and we used the opportunity to do all things wedding related that we otherwise wont be able to do with her living a 1000km from me. One of them was seeing me try on wedding dresses. So I made an appointment with the sweet Lubellos Bridal Boutique in Pretoria East. The service and the style of dresses makes you feel like the only bride in the world at that moments. Its really quite special! I tried on 3 dresses and out of those 3 one amazingly beautiful! I never really knew what brides ment when they say they found 'the one'...but that day I did...it's as if the dress chose me. It was perfect, I felt like a supermodel princess and it made me look amazing! No photos were allowed but they had this photo on their website of the dress.

There was only one small problem with this perfect dress...it wasn't the perfect price. My budget just would not allow a R9 000 wedding dress, even when she dropped the price with a nother R1000 I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much money on something you wear once... there had to be another solution. So with teary eyes, I said goodbey to Slava.

Stay tuned for part 2!
Did you have a 'the one' dress experince?
